71 Geothermal Collectors - Dublin
As part of a large size multi-storey bank building a tender was out for an all inclusive complete
geothermal heating system. The project in the heart of Ireland's capital, Dublin, in phase one of
two required seventy one complete OD40 PE100 SDR11 geothermal double-loops which were installed to
203mtr in depth (total 14,500mtr) with 11,000mtr OD50 PE100 SDR11 inter-connecting pipe work.
The main drilling contractor Leo Hilliard from Hilliard Drilling states: "We were awarded this
important contract in conjunction with Dunstar, a specialist Irish manufacturer of heat pumps for
geothermal systems. As a drilling company it is vital for us that we can rely on the expertise of
our partners. For this reason we also decided in favour of egeplast Ireland Ltd., whom enjoy a
reputation of technical competence".
"We were also made aware of their collaboration with one of Germany's most experienced geothermal
drillers and now materials suppliers Messrs. Geser GmbH. Thanks to our choice we could get all the
technical answers to the regularly occurring complex questions."
"Through egeplast Ireland we could
also get tailor made products such as the de-coiler to suit our specific requirements to use a single
pipe coil that can easily be handled and installed."
"We needed to back-fill the boreholes guaranteeing
a very efficient system that provided best heat yields. egeplast put forward geothermal cement
produced by Heidelberg type ThermoCem that gave the desired improved conductivity. egeplast Ireland's
uncompromising support certainly helped us greatly that this technical challenge became a success for
us and the client."
