Why choose Polyethylene?

PE Pipes are light, robust, and economical

The advantageous attributes of polyethylene pipes are undisputed: polyethylene pipes are robust, resistant to aggressive media, non-corroding and extremely resistant to mechanical influences. What’s more, the pipes are light and flexible, and very economical to install. Their flexibility also allows longer installation lengths if needed, and these can be manufactured on a project-specific basis to adhere to the needs of the respective construction site. Such long sections reduce the number of fittings and welds to a minimum. Pipe lengths can even be customised for a specific project, resulting in lower costs of transportation.

A service life of 100 years

Tests of the long-term creep under internal pressure pursuant to DIN ISO 12162 and the exploration method specified in ISO TR 9080, scientifically guarantee a product lifespan of more than 100 years for the currently available HD-PE pipe types. This is further verified by practical experience using HD-PE pipes in the water and gas supply industry and as sewage lines. HD-PE pipeline systems, some of which have already been in service for 50 years now, are characterised by a high standard of operational safety and extremely low maintenance and repair cost.

egeplast 90 10® RCplus

PE with a dimensionally-integrated, outer safety layer

The egeplast 9010® RCplus pipe is a pressure pipe manufactured from PE 100 RCplus (Resistance to Crack) with maximum resistance to creeping crack propagation. A coloured outer layer is isometrically integrated to allow a precise evaluation of conformity with the max. damage of the pipe surface pursuant to the valid rules and regulations (e.g. DVS, DVGW, KRV). Particularly suitable for trench-based installation without sand bedding, as well as ploughing and milling installation.

Benefits

  • High safety during operation due to the application of materials that are resistant to point loads
  • Reduction of excavation costs as opposed to sandbeds by re-using the excavated soil
  • Conservation of resources by reduced earth movement, elimination of disposal of spoils
  • Shorter construction times, less emissions

Impermeable to protect potable water and the environment
Barrier pipe for installation in contaminated soils
The egeplast SLA® Barrier Pipe (PAS 1075 Approved) safety pipe is the only plastic drinking water pipe in the world officially approved for installation in contaminated soil. A diffusion-resistant aluminium barrier layer between the outer coating and the inner PE pipe reliably prevents the ingress of pollutants. One interesting option is the installation of drinking water pipes and sewage pipes in a combined line!

Benefits

  • Impermeable piping system, approved for installation in contaminated soils and soils susceptible to contamination (KIWA-certified)
  • Installation of potable water and wastewater systems possible in one single route with reduced installation clearance between them
  • The special additive protective layer ensures installation of the pressure pipe without any damages in trenchless pipe-laying.
  • Integrity testing of the piping system for acceptance of the construction work
  • Possibility of detection
  • Saddles can welded directly onto outer layer

egeplast SLM® 3.0

Protective piping system for damage-free installation
egeplast slm 3.0 with a protective layer for directional drilling
Trenchless installation techniques place higher demands on the pipe material: the pressure-bearing pipe wall is manufactured from modern PE 100 RCplus (Resistance to Crack) materials, and this pipe also has an extremely “hard” outer shell to protect it from scratches, scoring and point loads. egeplast SLM® 3.0 is essential for trenchless installation and is PAS 1075 approved.

Benefits

  • The additive protective coating (wearing surface) enables damage-free installation of the new pressure pipe.
  • Welding according to DVS standards: butt welding without cut-back is possible, Tapping on undamaged pressure pipe
  • Trenchless installation techniques are possible without shortening the durability due to damages or reduction of the safety factor.
  • One piping system for all installation techniques (open trench and trenchless installation)

egeplast egeLiner®

Factory-folded PE pipes for close-fit-lining
egeLiner® is a polyethylene pipe for limited spaces at the jobsite. It is deformed and folded by means of a special thermomechanical treatment during manufacture. Long lengths, even with larger dimensions, can be wound on to drums due to the reduced cross-section. For the redeformation process, the egeLiner® is warmed up with steam after installation. The memory effect activated in this way causes the PE pipe to regain its original round form. The new pipe now lies as a static independent pipe, close-fit against the old pipe.

Benefits

  • Minimum space requirement for the job site
  • Certified by DVGW
  • Little interference in road traffic (traffic can flow almost unobstructed)
  • Lower excavation costs due to pulling the pipe in via excavation pits or existing shafts
  • Statically sustainable piping system
  • Obtains hydraulic capacity by means of very little loss of cross-section and reduction of the wall surface roughness

egeplast HexelOne SLM®

High pressure PE piping systems

egeplast HexelOne® SLM pipe is a self-reinforced high pressure pipe, a monocomposite only from polyethylene. This reinforcement enables new areas of application in the “raised pressure“ area, in other words, operating pressures above applications previously covered using PE pipes. The reason: It indicates twice as high a strength compared to the previous PE pipes.

Benefits

  • Permissible operating pressures of 30 bar for water and 16 bar for gas
  • Can also be installed trenchless due to protective layer and inner layer of PE 100-RC
  • DVGW certified
  • Less connections due to delivery lenghts up to 145 m
  • Combination of weldings according to DVS: butt welding and electrofusion welding 100% recyclable

3L Leak Control

Permanently or intermittend monitored piping system that finds and reports damages
The 3L safety pipe system provides a 100% leakage monitoring for soil and water protection.  It has been designed to report and locate damages – even on a mains-independent basis – and can be accessed and controlled in real time via the internet. A monitoring unit conntected to the pipe emits an alarm even by the smallest damage to the pipe. Messages will be sent directly to the control centre or to the smartphone. It can automatically switch off connected pump systems, thus preventing disasters reliably and at an early stage.

Benefits

  • Permanent Monitoring of the Pipeline, exact detection of leakages
  • Remote maintenance for the installed pipe as well as all installed system parts
  • Intermittend Monitoring in areas without any electricity supply is possible via a battery-powered monitoring unit
  • Cost-saving compared to conventional double containment systems
  • A piping system for open and closed constructions (both for new constructions and rehabilitations)
  • Safe welding Connections according to DVS 2207
  • Fulfils the requirements of continuous leakage Monitoring according to ATV-DVWK-A 142 for use in potable water protection Zone II with high risk potential
