PE - A SERVICE LIFE OF 100 YEARS
Tests of the long-term creep under internal pressure pursuant to DIN ISO 12162 and the exploration
method specified in ISO TR 9080, scientifically guarantee a product lifespan of more than 100 years
for the currently available HD-PE pipe types. This is further verified by practical experience using
HD-PE pipes in the water and gas supply industry and as sewage lines. HD-PE pipeline systems, some
of which have already been in service for 40 years now, are characterised by a high standard of
operational safety and extremely low maintenance and repair cost.
The advantageous attributes of polyethylene pipes are undisputed: polyethylene pipes are robust,
resistant to aggressive media, non-corroding and extremely resistant to mechanical influences. What's
more, the pipes are light and flexible, and very economical to install. Their flexibility also allows
longer installation lengths if needed, and these can be manufactured on a project-specific basis to
adhere to the needs of the respective construction site. Such long sections reduce the number of fittings
and welds to a minimum. Pipe lengths can even be customised for a specific project, resulting in lower
costs of transportation.
